If you’re not too busy playing Heroes of the Storm [Are you mocking me? DO YOU THINK THIS IS A GAME?! – Ed.] and still have time in your life for Blizzard’s other strategy series, then here’s some good news: the final chapter of StarCraft II is available for pre-purchase! Hit the jump to see what this entails.
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void has appeared on the Battle.net shop for users to buy ahead of launch. Two versions exist: the standard edition for $39.99 (R496 locally), and the digital deluxe edition for $59.99 (R744.22). Pre-purchasing either edition will get you access to the upcoming closed beta and immediate access to a set of prologue missions that bridge the gap between Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
These missions, collectively called Whispers of Oblivion, will eventually be free to all Legacy players when the game launches. Included in the digital deluxe edition are some choice in-game portraits and unit skins, World of Warcraft pets, Diablo III pets and armour, an exclusive mount for Heroes of the Storm and Protoss-themed card backs for Hearthstone.
StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void is the conclusion to the long-running StarCraft II story that began back in 2010. It’ll bring new units and other tweaks, and will likely shake up the eSports community. A release date is tentatively set for late 2015 / early 2016, but you’ll know it’s out when all work at NAG ceases for 72 hours so we can “try out a few matches”.
